7 awesome ways to kick the issue of Taskbar hiding in Windows 10
Windows 10!! Indeed, a cool amalgamation of the features of its various predecessors (obviously excluding the autistic Windows Vista) is a currently most-welcomed operating system in India. But as they say, nothing in this world is perfect except the word perfect (excuse my sensahuma), So in this article we will be handling the hiding issue of Taskbar which has entrenched itself into the minds of various users who are frenzied over finding a solution for it.
Playing a full screen game? Watching a movie? Yes. But the taskbar is still visible and keep on bugging and irritating you, right? Instead of looking at the spinning totem of Caprio in Inception, you keep vacillating into thinking of removing this taskbar menace and your eyes seem to be fixated there. Well, no problem, you are completely at the right place and the right time. And thou shall be rewarded.
So here we go, 5 steps to cure the stupid, time consuming problem.
1. AUTO-HIDE APPROACH
Search for Settings in the Search bar which is available by hovering your mouse to the right side of your screen. Then go to Settings -> Personalization -> Taskbar.
There you will see a few options. One of the option will state “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode”. Enable it. By doing so, your Operating system will automatically hide the taskbar which will come into view only when you hover the mouse over it.
2. RESTART WINDOWS EXPLORER
Playing a movie or doing any activity full screen and the taskbar seems adamant in it’s position?
Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete. Then click on the Start task manager which will further display you the Task Manager on your Screen. In the Task Manager dialog Box, click on The Processes Tab just below the File tab. After selecting it, you will be able to see a number of processes that are occurring or occupying space within your RAM.
Search for the Windows Explorer Process amongst the rows of the processes. On finding it, Select it and then click on the Restart Tab on the Right bottom-most corner of the Task Manager Dialog box.
If you have followed the steps successfully, your taskbar might have gone back in position.
The most common error if the taskbar bar getting continuously retracting is that some apps are placed in a position that require the attention of the user, like for example – an instruction/command left for pending by the user. You might have seen some blinking tab icons in your taskbar sometimes. They might also be the issue of the non-hiding problem if the taskbar. So, keep cycling through apps and keep closing them to prevent this problem from resurfacing.
3. SHELL FIX USING COMMAND PROMPT
If the Restarting of the Windows Explorer did not work you can try the following method also.
1. Right Click on the Start Menu and Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
2. After the Command Prompt has been opened, Type “powershell” and press Enter.
3. Now Paste the following code in the command prompt
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)AppXManifest.xml”}
4. Now close the Shell and go to the following folder :
C:/Users/your_name/AppData/local
5. Locate and delete the TileDataLayer folder.
6. Check if your Taskbar is working or not.
4. CLOSING BACKGROUND APPS
Another major cause of this issue, as we already have noticed, is some hidden apps inside your taskbar which are in an active space but are not visible as the large usual accustomed icons which we are familiar looking at. These apps might be present in the background. So to view them, look for the right end of the Taskbar where the date, battery symbol and other small icons of sound and other stuff are present. Then click on the upward arrow (“^”) to enlarge the items containing the hidden portion of the taskbar which generally doesn’t come into view frequently. There you may find some apps which are open and active and they might be the cause of the Taskbar behaving so erroneously in your operating system.
5. TURNING NOTIFICATIONS OFF
To avoid future problems relating to this active background app issue, right click on the taskbar and then from the popup menu that appears click on “Preferences”. After that select the apps which are known to cause problems with your Taskbar and turn off their notification by clicking on the drop-down menu ahead of the respective apps. This will keep the Taskbar in a deadlock free zone as the faulty apps won’t be able to send notifications to the taskbar and hence hinder your performance and keep you from scratching your head like a monkey.
6. CHECK DRIVERS
It may also be the issue that some drivers might not be updated and may the cause of this problem. So you can check for any malfunctioned drivers in your operating system by searing for “Drivers” in your search bar and then updating the necessary drivers.
7. UPDATE YOUR WINDOWS
You might be working on an older version of windows 10 taskbar frozen and this might also be the root of the issue of this cumbersome issue. You can never be sure and also it is best to stay updated in every sphere of life you walk into. So, make sure you are updated here as well.
Hope you guys enjoyed the article and were able to resolve the issue in no time, much less than the time I took while writing this article. Hehe. And thanks for bearing with my rotten sense of humor too. Stay updated and stay ahead. Until next time. Chao!!
